Helping Texas Families Save Their Homes

By smarta

Jan-BCLWe got a nice holiday note from Jan McNerney, director of  Business & Community Lenders of Texas (BCL of Texas)’s HomeOwnership Center, and a member of KERA’s Community Advisory Group.

The group recently hosted a party for some of families BCL of Texas helped with mortgage foreclosure issues.

(That’s Jan in the Santa hat, reading to the children.)

Here’s an excerpt from Jan’s note:

I want to wish a Merry Christmas to you and your staff. I am especially thankful for all of your help this past year.

We had a Christmas function this past Friday for some of the families that we assisted in saving their homes from foreclosure. ….All total at this function were 56 families–42 children. Donations of food came from the families to assist the other families. It was an amazing site.

Over this past year we have saved 435 families from foreclosure–some of the children pictured will only receive the presents we have given to them due to economic needs of their families.

From our NeighborWorks office to you—Happy Holidays!!
